Ok - hang fire there. Thought you were copy/pasting it rather than typing...

Probably you would want to see if editing fstab and replacing
UUID=3ac7970b-c2e8-4a94-80b0-c3dc41a6c80e /home ext3 defaults 1 2 none 

with 
/dev/hda6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2 none

I'm guessing that /dev/hda6 is the dead partition and is also normally mounted on /home?
