[wellylug] Intel motherboards etc?

Hi all,

I just got back from Quay computers - the guy there (who stated he
didn't care much about Linux) said he'd heard from another customer that
Intel were stopping all support for linux - to the extent that this
customer apparently requested that BIOSes on his boards didn't get
upgraded, because the new ones wouldn't work with Linux.

Has anyone else heard anything about that?

If not, are Intel boards and video chipsets the right way to go for an
OSS purist like myself? I'm looking for dual DVI and decent resolution,
but don't care much about 3d etc.
