I don't have a SuSE here to play with, but on Fedora it's in qt-devel.

You could try 'zypper wp qmake' to get a listing from your repositories - it's bound to be there somewhere.

IMHO it's better to use the repository and get the updates than to rebuild from source and never get it updated, but I'm lazy like that ;)
