Assuming that your data is X-in-confidence or lower, a single pass overwrite
with zero is sufficient to meet Australian[1] government standards for data
destruction.

So, boot a LiveCD and run 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/path/to/your/disk' and you are
good to go.
