Hi Ed,
I've been using a netgear DG834G with a DynDNS account for over 5 years. In
that time I haven't had a reason to change either. The DG843G gives excellent
uptime and can maintain a link over very low SNR lines where other router-modems
fail. I've installed the DGteam firmware** http://dgteam.ilbello.com/ which I
prefer to standard netgear firmware (it adds extra functionality like SSH router
access, enhanced iptables and a number of other enhancements). In addition to
DynDNS, it also incorporates support for No-IP as another dynamic DNS provider
option.

As Callum mentioned, there are also a number of software based DynDNS
clients/scripts that provide the same function. In the past, I've used this
method to remotely manage my parent's pc and I've found the DynDNS records
update pretty quickly - typically within a minute of boot-up and certainly
within two. That said, personally I find the router based approach preferable
since I can also use Wake-on-Lan with a dynamic IP for those machines that
aren't running 24/7.

** [Needless to say, I would recommend a google for other people's opinions on
DGTeam since it isn't official software with all that entails :)]
