[wellylug] Linux for portable / laptop

Hi all.
Went with WattOS for this. It's not exactly pretty but HOLY CRAP it boots fast. 20 or so seconds and its up and running on a desktop with no grinding like I was starting to get with the windows system prior.
I haven't worked out what its battery economy is like, I suspect I need to get some drivers for the device itself so I can turn off the wireless via the button on the machine, since that will be draining as long as its on.
Abiword was already plugged in. I'll give it a second chance.

Indeed. No question that Gnome itself is not exactly lightweight these
days.
