Hi all. First time caller long time listener.
Actually that's not true, I just got here.
Hey I want to run a distro on a roughly 3 year old low spec acer machine. I dunno what the specs are off the top of my head but it cost me 600 bucks in Australia from a retailer so thats the level I'm talking.
I'm mostly interested in a nix that is touted for battery life, low consumption and quick booting. I'm normally a windows retard and replacing the Vista install on it that just seems to be getting worse and worse, which is a shame 'cause I never really said anything bad about vista.
I have an install of Xampp on it as it stands so I can demo websites on the windows machine, all this stuff is still standard in most linux distro's right? Its been close enough to 10 years since I used Linux last and now I really don't know much about the subject.
Can anyone make a recommendation of the best distro, or a laptop specific version that I could try first off?
Cheers
