For the record, I checked last night, and my minimal Debian Gnome
install clocks in at about 250MB memory used, vs Linux Mint at about
450 MB. Mint gives you lots of nice extras and a beautiful appearance,
but it's interesting how much more you pay for it. Noting what Colin
wrote, I followed up the Phoronix article, and I see the default Mint
setting for PCI-E is "performance" too...
