The Internet suggests for the 4313 that the "correct" driver is the 'wl'
driver. It's possible that an older/not-as-good driver is attempting to
govern your chip.
How about doing an
sudo lsmod | less
and looking through the resuling list for these strings:
wl
b43
brcm80211
That might help identify what is being loaded as the wireless module. If
we're lucky, it'll be the wrong one and all you'll have to do is
blacklist the bad one and load the good one.
