I just got off it last month. Feeling liberated!
I would suspect it is both security and lack of friends :) haha! 
In all seriousness though, real life human interaction trumps any digital methodology. The more social network we get, the more real-world antisocial we seem to become. 
I don't want to see the 412th photo of your baby, what you had for lunch and what the palm trees in raro look like, thank you very much!
