This is (currently) my view.

Note that the rain warnings (which is the likely cause of slips) don't
cover Wellington, and the warnings of 6m waves likely apply to external
coasts, not the harbour. I'm not saying there'll be no problems, but at
this stage I wouldn't make significant plans to avoid it. I'm in the
Hutt too, btw.

If the worry is that you can get in to town but not back, there's always
Haywards :-)

Of course, people wanting to come down from Kapiti might also be affected.
