<font face="Arial">I don't know what it is with the python packages
Ian. The adept auto-updater thingy says I've got about 15 (mainly
python related) packages ready to upgrade but when i click to upgrade,
it wants to remove other packages and I don't know how to tell which
ones to keep and which ones to let it remove. Let me know if you have
any idea on this problem or if you figure out answers to your python
dilemma. The new install also won't let me view easily in Konqueror
the folders in root either. I have to physically type /etc or whatever
into the address bar. With any other mouse clicking way I find it all
hidden - any ideas on that?</font><br>

immediate problem was that X stopped working. I had problems with

some packages just not apt-getting at all. One of my friends gave me
<br>
his sources.list and that helped. I still had a few problems with

X... until I actually fixed my xorg.conf file. Heh. But I still have

a whole lot of python packages that are being held back. Not sure why

though. However, since it's "working" at the moment, I haven't messed

with it.

I did DL the Edgy Kubuntu CD this afternoon and will install it here

at home too. (my other install is at work)

Oh, and in case you were wondering, setting whether or not Thunderbird
<br>
sends out HTML email is under Tools -> Account Settings -> Server
<br>
Settings for the account -> Composition. You can pick HTML or Plain
<br>
Text in there.
<br>

Since I no longer use Mutt for email, this isn't an issue for me at
<br>
least, anymore. :-)

I am sorry my experience with Kubuntu was not helpful/useful to you

Please remember that many of us on here including myself are not tech

experts or programmers of perl/python etc. I only vaguely know what
you're

talking about below and wouldn't know how to make thunderbird do that
even

if I wanted to. I do just what works for me as that's all I can do,
unaware

of any broader philosophies that may be surrounding any given issue

distros, seemed to be easiest to use without having to know too much.
I

mainly only want linux to work for me and do not want to know what goes
on

behind the scenes unless it directly effects what I'm doing at any

point in time. It is these occasions when I learn something new.

So what you are saying is that because you lack the common
<br>
courtesy of using the smallest common denominator (ASCII),
<br>
or at least have BOTH ASCII and HTML as part of a multi-part
<br>
MIME-encoded message if HTML is that important to you to express

Good one mate :)
