Might try setting up both MPD and front end (ampache with amarok2
client possibly) on the same pc first just to get the hang of it then
introduce networking after that via bluetooth dongles from my new acer
laptop to by ancient mothballed laptop. Have you had any experience
with bluetooth networking? I was under the impression it is all point
to point, ie not requiring a router. Was looking at these on Trademe:
I run ubuntu/kubuntu which I think already has bluez modules etc
installed and running by default.
What I'm trying to achieve is a flac music "tank" that can be laptop
controlled via bluetooth network interface. I thought MPD on a thin
client type setup and a ampache/amarok2 front end on the laptop.
