I checked out the Viking modem sold by Traverse in Australia. There
is one small problem.
No telepermit (I rang them this morning to check).

You only need a Telepermit if you plan to connect to the Telecom Network and are worried what they would do if they found out if you were running non-telepermitted equipment. If you were connecting to a Unbundled connection from Telstra or another ISP then you don't need to worry about a Telepermit.
The new Sangoma S519 (available in Australia) looks like it would do
the same job -- good suggestion -- but, again, no sign of a New
Zealand reseller who has obtained a telepermit.

If enough people were interested, it might be possible to get the
telepermit (both products claim to meet the necessary NZ standards:
AS/NZS 60950, PTC 273). But it would have to be quite a lot of people
(yell out if interested).

My problem with the whole Telepermit is that it's just a Telecom lock-in process. I purchased a 14 AVM ISDN BRI Cards ex the UK for $10 shipped to NZ to use with Asterisk, they are the exact same cards that are sold in NZ with Telepermit. But I needed to go through the whole Telepermit process again.

PriceSpy searching for "ADSL PCI" brings up this.

http://pconlineshop.co.nz/pcshop/product_info.php?products_id=21332

Also

http://www.ectech.co.nz/new_page_11.htm

A bit more searching finds this:

http://www.pcmart.co.nz/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=367

Can't go wrong for $45

and

http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/

Take your pick.
