Eww seriously if FB is used as the primary, secondary or even tertiary
communication method you can count me out.
As for mailing lists, if people think there is a need for change
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://onlinegroups.net">https://onlinegroups.net</a> could be an alternative. Might need to convince
them that WellyLug would be a good thing to sponsor in terms of giving a
free site.
Not immediately sure of an alternative to FB for events organisation, but
there has to be something that isn't going to steal our souls or our first
born.

I will probably set up a fb account, and do events through there
as well as advertising on a website of some form.
I will probably keep the mailing list, though may take it away and
redefine it slightly. For now, I'll probably keep the existing one
until we actually have a meeting xD
You should join <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://lists.wellylug.org.nz/mailman/listinfo/wellylug">http://lists.wellylug.org.nz/mailman/listinfo/wellylug</a>

you aren't already on there

1. It's now 2013 and folks use Facebook, Twitter and Meetup.
The 90s called and want their mailing lists back.
2. If you're going to carry on using a mailing list, use someone
else's mail server. The Naos "no advertising at all" rule caused
a weekly flame war because apparently some eejit
decided that posting a Linux-related job URL, or saying,
"Hey does someone want to buy my spare graphics card for
ten bucks" counts as advertising. Honestly, this became
nearly half the content of the mailing list when I gave up
several years ago, and also, they're wrong.
