      I was a regular on one or two channels a few years back, and they
      had bots.  I never heard anything against them. <br>

      I suppose they might have changed the policy.<br>

    Yes, that's the #freenode ruleset.  You need to check the MOTD for
    the specific server you're on to see if it has a bot policy, but
    usually well-behaved ones are fine.<br>

    I run a few on other networks without drama, none on Freenode
    however...<br>
