Hi folks,

This is a little off topic (although apparently these things are
basically a linksys WAP54G under the hood, and run linux), but can
anyone help me changing the settings of a DSE xh8287 Wireless Access
Point?

I've inherited one, and I've reset to factory settings. If I put it
on the network, I can connect, get an IP address from the ADSL
router, and access the internet fine.

However, there's no password, and I can't work out how to access the
access point to change its settings.

It doesn't seem to be doing DHCP itself, as I can't get an IP
address either through the wired or wireless network if the ADSL
router is unplugged. The ADSL router isn't giving it an IP address
either.

I've found a mention of the IP address being 192.168.1.245 for
WAP54G devices, so I changed my wired IP manually to 192.168.1.10
(currently my network's in the 192.168.254.0 range) but I couldn't
access anything using a browser at 192.168.1.245 or .254 (in case it
was a typo).

Searching DSE's site fails to find anything, and old URLs to the
manual no longer work.

Does anyone know the default IP address and password for these
things?

Is DSE still making old manuals available?

-Andrew.
