The 'must have' applications are up to them. I wasn't planning on having an
opinion on what they were exactly. The only example I've come across was a
signwriting crowd over in the Wairarapa... the app refused to function
under WINE so they used Win4Lin instead.

The plan was to spend more time on the OO/Evo/Moz side of things and just a
quick overview of the emulation stuff at the end. I think it needs to be
done primarily because even though we aren't necessarily targetting the
business market given that over 90% of NZ businesses are 10 people or less
it's odds on that we will get a number of people who might find the
information useful... whether they'll want to spend $600+ on VMware is
entirely up to them...

Multimedia? Happy to include it but it covers a multitude of sins. My
experience is limited to Xine (primarily) and Mplayer (less so). I don't
have access to a digital camera and I haven't done video editing although I
have ripped some ogg files for my cellphone and have used xmms for
playback/netradio stuff. I'm also running off a laptop so don't have
experience with proper sound/video cards. So will Xine/Mplayer playing a
DVD be enough with xmms doing netradio?

Gaming?... yes, well you've got me there... my hand/eye coordination sucks
big time so I'm not a big game fan added to which the laptop only problem
(no sound/video/gameport) comes into play again. Open to suggestions
however... something I can learn quickly that runs reasonably well on a
laptop would be good. (I'm also looking for an excuse to buy a USB
Joystick...)

The installation walkthrough was aimed more at people who were interested
in getting Linux installed, wanted some info but didn't want to bring their
kit along and have us do it. How many of those will there be? Don't know. I
thought it might be a way of taking some pressure off the install teams if
we get rampaging hordes of people coming through (then again if we publish
it it might generate rampaging hordes of people...). 25minutes may very
well be a bit short though but these things have a habit of stretching out
if there is interest. I thought it might be useful and it was minuted
against me as a todo but if we are squeezed for time then it could be
dropped.
