They were the only store that had actually installed Linux on it (Mandrake 9.2)
but I didn't find out who had done it.

I justy copied the ppt over into the dse home dir & ran it....

The others ran Knoppix off CD or, in one case, Windows XP. (All now have
knoppix on HD).

 

I suggest anyone checking up at a DSE asks for the manager if the ppt is NOT
running, introduce yourselves as WLUG members & find out why it wasn't running.
Offer to help get it going & show them how. The two obvious reasons are apathy
& ignorance. If there are problems at the DSE end, I need to identify what they
are & discuss with the head office & regional managers, as the Linux support is
being driven from top down. Apathy is their problem, ignorance is an area we
may have a useful role.

I'll run past Featherston, Manners & Vivian on Mon AM after I get Dymocks
sorted out to see how they are doing (on the way to my real job). Hopefully
Lower Hutt on the way home, but Porirua is a bit out of my way.
