It was to be turned off when the shop is unstaffed to avoid tempting a smash &
grab in the wee small hours. Summat both Dymocks & Silicon preferred. I didn't
argue, basically we take what we are offered. It's getting traffic daytime &
'til 5:00 PM, hopefully that will be enough. We were pretty busy last year with
nothing like this to advertise.
Now for the "Oh s**t, can anyone please help!?!?" bit:
It looks like while I disabled the screensaver, I didn't disable the power
saving, so the monitor is switching off every 30 minutes.
It's running MDK9.2 with KDE3.1 (from memory). If anyone is passing, can they
pop in, introduce themselves to John, who is looking after it, & turn screen
power mgmt off??? Should all be in the KDE desktop configuration.
I can get in at lunchtime (from Evans Bay) if no one else has fixed it by
then...
Please post here if you can do this, as I'd rather not have 30 WLUG members
charging to the rescue, one should be enuff :-)
Apologies for forgetting this.... but I'd be surprised if that is all I forget
this week :-(
BTW, I called Hutt News, but with a Tuesday delivery, we won't get any prior
mention there, it needed to be done last week. Dunno what is happening with
other papers....
