Howdy,
Just to confirm,
The touch screen istations you might have seen around wellington
are running linux.
There are 4 in place at the moment,
cable car lane, town hall visitor centre, cuba mall (outside the oaks)
and one outside the st james.
They are running gentoo linux, and use konqueror 3.1.4 for the interface.
The software utilises kmplayer, a java thermal print server,mysql
and php, rsync/ssh and lots of ugly shell scripts :-)
They werent developed by telecom, but by some local wellingtonians,
(including the actual phone booths)
They have been out in the streets for almost a month now.
Plenty of bugs to be ironed out, but so far we are more than
pleased with our choice of OS :-)
