If you guys don't mind bringing the gear along, that
will be one other option for us to try if a network
install doesn't work.  It does sound tricky, however,
and Google doesn't give much hope, as you say.

Another option would be to do a HD-based install,
putting the required files onto the hard drive using
Windows and a standard network connection, if the
machine has a network card.  All kinds of stuff we
could try if we have the time!
