In my experience committees take over when the membership doesn't take 
sufficient interest in the organisation of the group and leaves everything 
to the committee who duly just go ahead and do what they wish.

For the membership to keep control they need to keep informed of what's 
going on.  In that respect maybe *everyone* should subscribe to both 
mailing lists and more importantly participate in the wellylug-org list.
