Had me thinking ...
Yes I would like to see the group use its bulk buying numbers to get good
deals on things to sell to members.
No I don't think the group should use this as a fund raising exercise.
ie I don't think the 'group' (whatever that is) should seek to make a
profit from such sales.
That way
1) the benefit is directly to members in getting good value for money
(otherwise known as cheap ;-).
2) You don't have the hassles of worrying about should the group be paying
some sort of tax
3) You don't have to think up creative ways to spend the money (the current
funds question indicates there is no pressing need for more money)
4) You don't have to worry about who is in control of large group funds
For example
I have just been considering whether to be frivolous and buy a linux badge
for my computer case, it is somewhat cheaper to buy 10 or more ($3 each)
.... but I don't have 10 linux computers ;-) ....
Thoughts?
