Usenix used to meet in the VUW MCS (staff|grad students) common room a few
years back. It's used both as a tea room, and also for MCS presentations,
and provides "comfy chairs" for presentations, as well as some (low --
coffee style) tables. There's a whiteboard, and with some effort a
projector can be used against those (I've seen it done).
IIRC it was arranged through several of the Usenix members being MCS
staff members, but if there are any Wellylug members who are
honours/masters students in the MCS department then they might be able
to arrange something.

PS: There are various companies around town which have board rooms set
up for doing presentations in them. Possibly we have members who
are working at some of them. The more "open source friendly" ones
would be a good place to start. (And no, Naos isn't big enough to
have a board room :-) ) However you do run into after-hours access
issues with that sort of thing, where as university rooms tend to
stay open longer into the evening.
