And end of year social event is somewhat traditional, so maybe hold off for
a couple or four months.
As for curry and beer, how about something edible instead? ;-)

Only way to go is for each person to rank them in order of preference - I
think a single-transferable-vote system is most appropriate, I expect
Jethro will have one ready for us by tomorrow :-)

How can you put "good" and "red meat" together :p
I trust vegetarian Debian users are to be catered for too ;-)
But why go to a restaurant (Are we talking of about $400 in the kitty -
feed 16 people at $25 a head?)? You get to sit down and chat to a couple
of neighbours and eat an expensive meal. Why not just hire a room or a
hall somewhere and have a social/party/get-together and even computers
could come too. A good pile of finger food and liquid refreshments and
everyone would be happy. (Especially remembering that if a significant
portion of the 'membership' turn up you'll take over the whole of most
Wellington restaurants ... ).
I seriously suggest that a social/party type of get together will be far
easier to get consensus on than finding a restaurant that suits a sizeable
number ...
I would also like to point out that there is no pressing need to blow the
money in this way, it will only devalue slowly until we find a real use for
it.
