The advantage of a mailing list is no maintenance, messages are transient 
beasts no one needs to maintain a webpage etc ... if the item hasn't gone 
(or been acquired etc) just repost as necessary.
If you do want to have a web version, I really like the phpBB bulletin 
boards - easy to setup (I've set one up already), you can reply to people 
through the board or via email depending upon how they wish to be 
contacted.  You can include pictures etc (although they'd probably have to 
be hosted somewhere else).  You can have separate categories and can have 
messages being automatically expired.

Of course there may be some wiki vs phpBB politics that I am not aware of ;-)

What I'd really like is a list that had messages sent to a website and a 
mailing list, does anyone know of such an integration? (ie messages sent to 
one are also echoed on the other)
