Aaaargggggggghhhhhh!
The whole point is to have a mailing-list or site for the members to use,
as advertising of any sort is forbidden on the main mailing lists. Of
course I wouldn't bother asking the group if I just wanted to operate a
mailinglist/website for my own purposes and of course if the group wants
such a mailinglist/website its existence **WILL** be "advertised" on the
mainlist (and on the wellylug website I'd expect).
So I'm not asking for "endorsement", I'm offering to setup a service for
members exclusive use and asking what form they'd like. It doesn't worry
me if they take it or leave it or get someone else to run it (I'd be very
happy if it was run from the website or mailing list server). I had the
impression that many members did want to trade stuff with other members but
weren't allowed to use the existing mailing lists. The idea of a separate
list was suggested long ago but nobody seems to have done anything, I
thought I'd push things along a bit, and followed the principle that if you
want something done - do it yourself ...
And so I re-iterate - The whole idea is to let people know that advertising
isn't wanted on the main list, so go here <insert final decision> instead.
Also, following a tradition of 20 years, I think the mailing list should
have a regular automatic posting (once a month?) detailing the welly lug
lists, website, subscription/unsubscription info, and expected usage there-of.
</end of ranting and raving, goodnight!>
