My apologies for spoiling the delightful silence of this list :-)
This msg wanders around a few issues, just to get folks thinking about the next
installfest & what/whether/if we may wanna do...
I was visiting the Silicon guys today, & they asked about the next installfest.
They feel that the 'fests bring a fair number of potential customers in & are
pretty keen on a threepeat.
So that at least means that venue is available again, if we want it.
One of the more successful areas of the last 'fest was (at least I think so)
the presentations.
I know the NZOSS (or at least some of us) are in the VERY early stages of
looking at a presentation on Open Source in Wgtn. (which means there have been
a couple of comments about it prob being a good idea)
So, we have Ewen suggesting Auldhouse as a presentation venue, Silicon asking
about a 'fest & NZOSS (almost) considering a OS presentation south of the
Bombay Hills.
>From an advertising/publicity perspective, it makes lots of sense to combine
them, however, the LUGgites who find the political side of 'fests distasteful &
don't like NZOSS evangelism may think it a bloody awful idea.
It is prob way too early to start planning anything, but not to start thinking
about pros/cons, venue options, presentations, etc, esp if we are looking at a
March/April date as in the past.
So I'll toss this open to y'all to ponder over the ham & beers of the Christmas
break :-)
Spotcha,
Brent
