Certainly more professional, but are we looking at 10/20/50 of each? Is a setup
& run of 20 disks worth it, with a separate run for proper labelling of each of
the 3 Mandrake disks? The disks are tossed a few months, Mandrake 10 is just
out, so we burn professional looking 9.2 sets???? Where do I sit my glass??
If they are prepared to do it all for us, fine, I figured a simpler option
might
be easier to obtain.

AARRGGHHH!!!! You've just pushed one of my buttons (apologies in advance for
the rant, but I could hardly disagree more!!! :-)
The LUG people mix possibly provides a very good representative sample of what
enthusiastic & relatively experienced Linux people use.
If you narrowed it down to people who have attended one LUG meeting this year
and have used Linux for less than 6 months it might approach being relevant,
but I think your sample size would render this meaningless.
So, IMHO WLUG distro usage is pretty irrelevant. The LUG membership prob has a
very negative correlation with the mix of people likely to attend an
installfest. If you asked LUG members which distros they look down on & joke
about you might get a more useful result (comments Chris?? :-)
We are not running the installfest for LUG members, we are runnng it for those
who may have never heard of a LUG. To assume the Linux knowledge of the
literate group represents the needs of the ignorant makes an ass....
Find me a novice Linux user who is not especially computer literate. What
distro are they most likely to be using?
Look at Linux distro reviews, which ones are recommended for novices?
Which distro's are DSE providing? They have done a fair bit of research to
identify which distro's are most likely to be a positive experience for people
coming in to get a distro to take home, install & play with.
We should stay mainstream, not bombard the ignorant with choices that are not
able to assess, & be consistent with the distro recommendations people will
find in magazines & the net.
just my .02 :-)
