I think it should have been handled better, and squashing the thread
after the initial blowout on the list might have been a way to reduce
the damage done.

Jamie did act out but some of the other stuff said in response was just
as harsh.  What pissed me of the most is that after Jamie tried to
apologise, people were still passing judgement, and continued to try and
fan the flame-war back into life.

I think one way to handle things like this is for some one from the long
standing members should have taken the time to take Jamie aside and have
a good talk face to face to try and defuse the situation.

But how that person is treated in response will largely dictate whether
they continue to participate in the LUG.

I think I may try to contact Jamie and take the time to have a good chat
about his concerns.
