I agree with practically all your post, but the last paragraph.
I've seen it on a couple of threads, people impatient for a subject to be
closed because they've made a decision and can't see why anyone else is
still going on about it. I don't think it is helpful to try and close down
the discussion just because *I* think it's been done to death
already. Most threads die a natural death when everyones had their say, so
long as you haven't got people just trying to get in the last word on the
subject.
As has been said before, if you don't like the thread, don't participate in
it, it's not too difficult to trash unwanted posts. Let others work
through the topic at their own pace and everyone might be satisfied with
the outcome.
