SuSE
Mandrake

I was thinking (as one does ;-) and I belive we should offer less choice
in distros.

"Less choice!!! I thought Linux was about choice!!!!"

Why? because if we only have 2 distros avalible, it makes it much easier
to support newbies to linux. If we have debian, mandrake, suse, fedora,
etc, it gets much harder to help newbies out, and it's much harder for
newbies to help each other out.

Also, instaid of just giving a user an installation, how about giving
them details of someone or a mailing list to contact for support?

Currently, I think people get it, but sort of keep switching from Linux
to Windows and vice-versa as they can't quite get their Linux system how
they want it, and are never quite satisfied.

A newbie mailing list could even be usefull - allowing newbies to help
each other, with more experienced administrators helping out. A mailing
list aimed at newbies will help them from feeling embarrassed by asking
'stupid' questions. Eg: how do I get the console? how do I install a
winmodem drivers?

I remember when I first used Linux, I had stupid questions like that.
:*) Linux has improved heaps since Mandrake 6.1, but I bet there are
still questions like this popping up all the time.
