I understand your sentiment about committees and decision making, and I
accept your defacto invitation to join as you have posted the address
publicly - but I think it needs to be explicitly an open forum (ie open to
anyone who is interested) if you expect the re-direction of nzlug to be
seen as inclusive. Besides it is a "discussion" list, I was under the
impression that the main body of members made decisions as you didn't have
an elected governance anyway ;-).
There are plenty of ways of dealing with disruptive/noisy elements if they
occur. At this stage you ought to be calling for the widest input, and not
have restrictions either limiting access or knowledge about how to access
(and not restrict to just representatives of other groups).
Hopefully I might be forgiven in thinking that, mirroring the spirit of
open-source software, the above should go without saying.
Yes you might get heated discussions but if we don't take into account all
views, NZLUG will not be reaching out but just perpetuating the status quo
(It's easy to make decisions, more difficult to make the right decisions ;-)
Also does that list have archives so we can see what has gone before?
Tony.
PS Mark, take a deep breath and smile, you're doing really well at good
humouredly fielding our endless queries :-) :-)
