I figure it's about time to let y'all know where we are at...


Jethro has drawn up some forms for the fest, disclaimer etc.

Kris has a PDF (on the website) advertising it. Please grab a copy for your
work/school/corner dairy/noticeboard & stick it up.

Silicon are donating a 19" Philips TFT screen as a prize for a business card
draw. 

I have a LiveCD with an Impress presentations running in DSE Featherston St,
Vivian St & Manners Mall. I should get Porirua & Lower Hutt tomorrow, as well
as get a laptop in Dymocks window running it.

I can give copies to anyone who can use one.

All a bit rushed, but at least something is out there.

If anyone gets the chance, please pop in & check that the DSE ones are running
& make supportive noises to staff, about what a good idea this is & how
pleasing it see DSE supporting it....


The LiveCD logon is fest, passwd fest, click on the central icon once KDE has
started (screen with 4 coloured boxes) in the bottom panel and (eventually) OO
will start. Still v1.1, I ran out of time to update everything... Once OO is
up, it will load the presentation, press F9 to start it. All seems OK. The
startup script is supposed to disable DPMS & screen blanking... (key phrase is
"supposed to")

I have left spare flyers & instructions on running the LiveCD at each DSE, but
some help from LUG members will help. If there are none, ask staff to put more
out. 

Feel free to suggest any customers there attend, to help them get the most out
of their DSE computer :-)

Silicon are listing it in their "news" & on their website and letting their
customers know.

Please ensure you let as many people as you can know & encourage them to
attend.
