I'm sure that Brent was going to do this, but I like to win the
race. ;-)
Installfest is tomorrow!
WELLYLUG TEAM:
--------------
Wellylug installfest team, please arrive around 9:30, as we want to set
up. I also need to briefly go over the forms that I have written for the
event (such as the disclaimer)
From my knowledge the following wellylug members are attending:
Brent Wood
Chris Hodgetts
Carl Klitscher
Jethro Carr (Me)
Jeremy Naylor
Michael Dittmer
Peter Dawson
Jamie Baddeley, are you coming?
Have I missed anyone?
If for any reason, you have said that you are attending, but you
suddenly can't make it, please quickly post an email to this list before
8:00am and after that (say if your car breaks down), please TXT or call
me on: 021-039-0868. This is especially important for anyone doing a
presentation, as I can modify the day's events, on a handout we have.
SOFTWARE:
---------
The following distros will be available:
- suse pro 9.2 (provided by novell, via brent)
- mandrake 10.1 (provided by jeremy)
- ubuntu (provided by brent)
- kubuntu (provided by brent)
- pclinux (provided by brent)
- knoppix (provided by jethro)
CD's with 'the open cd' will also be available. The open cd is a
collection of open source programs for windows.
I have also made an ISO containing binary programs which contains the
following:
- Winmodem Drivers (lucent, conexant, intel)
- Video Card Drivers (nvidia, ati)
- Binary Apps (adobe reader, and the flash player)
I will be ripping all the CD's to ISO's on my desktop during the setup
time, so I can burn them as we need them. I believe that Jeremy will
also be bringing a machine with a CD writer.
Could someone also bring some pens for labelling the CD's? I'll be
bringing a vivid, but if it runs out, we could have a problem...
SECURITY:
---------
If you are bringing your own computer, I recommend that you bring a
security chain, to prevent 'snatch & run' theft.
All team members, please keep an eye out for people acting suspiciously,
and try and keep a conscious tab on who owns what computer.
DONATIONS:
----------
Who is bringing the donation box (and a sign for it)?
FOOD:
-----
Silicon is providing snacks to members, but I have no idea what it
consists of, so I recommend bring your own lunch & liquid supply just in
case.
If you need to, I'm sure Silicon would be happy to let you use their
microwave.
Another option is for someone to run down to pack n' slave, with
anyone's orders.
anything I've missed?
anyway, see you tomorrow! :-)
