Getting desperate here :-) Lots of "advertising" is done with no $$ involved.
The only definition of advertising that is relevant is Ewen's. Your's doesn't
matter, even if a dictionary supports it. If Ewen says it was inappropriate
according to the rules he set down, that's it. Full stop.
Technically, the reminder message about upcoming LUG meetings is also
advertising. Not bombastic OTT stuff, but the distinction between notify &
advertise is pretty unclear. I'm just grateful that Ewen is sensible & flexible
in his interpretation.
Rather than continue this on list, perhaps a poll on the subject via Jethro
might be interesting :-)
