Thanks John,

It is entirely up to us. I propose that we run this concurrently (so not
Tuesdays) with the OOW course, and following SFD 2007 & this year's
installfest, so starting mid October.

If we used Ubuntu as one of the 'fest distro's, this starting this course a
week or two afterwards would be a perfect intro to help people get the most out
of their new installs.

Ideal!!! More about using Linux apps in a Linux environment than about Linux
administration.

I'd like to see something like this at least mention more than one application
for these subjects, even if only one package is discussed in earnest. Also, a
brief mention of RPMdrake, yum, YaST, etc for other distro's package
management. More of a Linux overview using Ubuntu rather than an Ubuntu only
course.

Issues like very basic networking (connecting to the internet), connecting
printers, scanners, SANE, GIMP, Office apps, etc, also on an introductory
level.

But that's just my preference :-) & I'm facilitating, not running it (I would
but I can't guarantee being in NZ at the time....)

Do you think you could get 8 weeks out of this? I can see an intro about Linux
& OpenSource, what are distros & a demo install taking up one evening, then
perhaps two subjects a night, one hour each, another 5-6 nights???

We need to confirm dates & resources, & provide a paragraph describing the
class  ASAP.

Can you get back to me with your further thoughts on this? Do we generally
agree
or am I wandering off somewhere different :-)

I'm more than happy to help get things ready beforehand, where I can.

Cheers,

  Brent
