I'm okay with this, provided that:
- An explanation why is added in place of the post.
- The message does not make any impact on further discussion. (eg: if
the user posted something which caused a thread, it should remain).

At the end of the day, I trust your judgement on this issue, but setting
a precedent might cause problems for you in future.

It may be better to just have a blanket "no modifications" rule to make
it fair for everyone.
