I agree pretty much entirely with Peter on this, either option works (pref
the second one, minimal impact).
The List admins have the right to do what they like with the archives -
however for the sake of integrity we should be able to trust the admins to
leave the archives alone where there isnt a damn good reason to screw with
them. I'm not quite at the 'sorry, cant be done' as an answer to any
request stage, but the reasons have to be bloody good. If your gut call on
this one is to lean toward helping the requestee-out, i'd support it.
On the whole the guys running WellyLUG have established to my satisfaction
their honesty and integrity, so i feel its important to also be seen to be
reasonable to the public at large. Obvoiusly if the requests suddely get
regular and persistent, the rules need to change...
... I guess in the end id support a 'no editing the archives' policy so
long as we retain the right to implement exceptions to the rule for the
sake of commonsense. We dont advertise the option, but we exercise it in
exceptional cases. Fair?
