James

Hi - thanks for your email re: LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. The event
will
be held on 9-10 November at the Aotea Centre in Auckland. Admission is
free
(as you would expect at a Linux event)!

The event is primarily aimed at the business user to allow IT
professionals
the opportunity to evaluate alternatives for IT structures within their
business, however, we are sure we will attract some avid Linux users. It

will consist of exhibits from sponsoring companies - those confirmed to
date include Inprise, Corel, SGI, SolNet, Dr Floppy Computers, Woodslane
NZ
and we are currently finalising discussions with IBM, Red Hat,
TurboLinux,
Informix, Cyclades, Asterisk, Catalyst IT, etc.

There will be a series of free 'Tools & Technologies' seminars running
throughout the two days which will be hosted by our Gold and Silver
sponsors.

For those who are seriously interested in finding out more, top overseas

speakers and NZ presenters have been lined up to host a one-day paid
conference on each day of the event. Each will have a different focus,
with
day one covering the management/strategic issues with day two covering
more
technical aspects, eg implementation and integration. These will be
priced
at $495 for each day or $895 for both days.

Speakers confirmed to date include:

Nick Petreley - founding editor of linuxworld.com and writer for
infoworld.com.

David Intersimone - VP of Developer Relations, Inprise

Mark White/Chris - Red Hat Asia Pacific

Igor Portugal - Technical Director, Asterisk

Rodney Prescott - Terabyte - Leading interactive web developers with a
strong Linux focus

John Emmerson - CIO Heathlink South - Just implemented a Linux-based
system
saving over $1.5 million on Microsoft
licence fees (case study).

Dr. Paul Bonnington - Senior Professor at AUT - Chairman of a Government

funded study looking at rolling out Linux through schools in NZ

We are currently waiting on confirmation from Drew Spencer, VP for
Development, Caldera Systems, plus some other NZ speakers.

Full speaker details and conference programme content are yet to be
finalised, but will be available on our website over the next few weeks
(linuxworld.co.nz). You will also be able to pre-register on-line prior
to
the event.

I trust this gives you an insight into what is planned for the event. If

you need any further information, please feel free to contact me on 09
375
6019 or email by return.

Kind regards,

Claire Munro
Account Manager, Events
