Heigh ho, I'm Matt, I joined the list because the insults and pettyness
of the Linux Advocates List was anoying me - although I never actually
got round to posting on that list.
I was hoping to go to the Wellington meetings, but they never happened.
I will try to get out to J'ville, although no guatrantees I could take
the PC :-)

Um, a Linux newbie, I've had dual boot system for a couple of months
now, but I only use Linux to learn Linux. In other words, I
occasionally go to Linux and run through one of the teach yourself Linux
books, or try to get some of the Audio applications I bought compiled
and running. I'm waiting till I get a modem Linux supports (as opposed
to my WinModem) before using it big time, and that wont be happening
until I get a job :-(
Basically I really dislike Microsoft and their products, and want
something that doesn't crash. However, having said that I recently had
a look at a Mac magazine and now want a G4 :-) If I EVER get serious
about music (amateur electronic composer) I will be getting one, but
then I think there is Linux for the Mac now?

So as I said, a Linux Newbie, but I've been using PCs for years, and
worked as a Windows developer (er.. I guess that at meetings I could
help people set up hardware? I got lots of experience there).

Glad to see this list is starting on a friendly note =]

Cheers,
Matt.
