Did I mention that with the cable modem you get a static IP address? I 
operate my own POP3 / SMTP and WWW server on Linux..... 

Paradise also provide DNS support for free, so my server supports 
e-mail, ftp and web services for the two domains I own and use 
(mmp.org.nz and poole.net.nz). 

You can also use a LInux caching proxy server on your own home LAN in 
front of your Internet connection in order to reduce repetitive 
Internet queries from eating up your quota.
