[wellylug] Windows XP install compared with Redhat and Mandra kes latest install

Was this XP home edition?  I have been installing XP Pro on a number of
P1.6/40gig/256m boxes,
FIC VC15 board (intel 845D chipset), Pine 3D Phantom video card (32meg)
Genius lan card.
These are about as basic a business-box as you are likely to find.
The install in every case has been very straight forward, none of the
glitches you mention - 
almost as easy as the Lycoris LX install thats on the home PC :-). Each
install takes about 30-40 minutes.

But you're right about the ugliness, and the way MS keep moving stuff
around.
I noticed this also between NT4 and W2000 - the same stuff is there, they
have just changed the way to access it
