As stated... I cannot even ping a webserver to check connection (KPPP 
states that it is connected, and the time incrementer goes up as per 
normal for a connection).

I originally set up the firewall in MDK Control Centre to standard 
which _theoretically and practically_ should allow me to browse the 
internet, but, paranoid that I may be, I don't want to surf without a 
firewall available.

I'm unable to check firewalls or hosts files (whereabouts is that 
located, as am still quite new to Linux) until I get home tonight.
