[wellylug] Last nights meeting

Out Coyote attempt was thwarted by my hasty installation of Coyote on a
floppy for the meeting, and not testing it properly. I set it up in
isolation from the gateway it should have been in, and changed settings in
order that it did not stuff up my installation in the process. from that
point, it got worse. Sorry about that guys. that was not Coyote. That was
me!

We were trying to set up a simulated real world with some workstations on
the 'outside' and some on the 'inside.' Should have been easier I think. I
would like to try again next time, with perhaps one server acting as the
internet if we cannot get a phone line?

One phenomenon that surprised me. My P166 with two 8029 PCI cards seem to
change order when moving from Mandrake 8 to Coyote. From my reading, that
should not be. The order should be established by the MAC address order?
This may have contributed to my puzzling over which of the two cards went to
the 'inside' and vic versa. (sp)

I would find it easier if we used name stickers. I was looking fro guys
that I know off this mail list, but had not clue as to what they looked
like. That would make it easier for newcomers. Anyone object to that? I
know it is sort of bureaucratic, but hey, communication is the key?

Lindsay
the grey haired one
