I find Gnome is noticeably faster than KDE 2.x or 3.x (apart from
Nautilus).  Apparently Gnome 2 is actually faster than Gnome 1.x.  Now
the Gnome people have put all the hard work into the internals, I hope
they can put some work into the UI (like a decent file / save) :-)
