Im considering making the switch to Gentoo

Portage looks great, as a FreeBSD user I appreciate anything similar to the ports. 

I wonder if anyone on the list is using it yet?
Its supposed to be for advanced users, I wonder how "advanced" do you need to be, I can handle an Open or Free BSD system - is Gentoo any more difficult? Im using mandrake currently and have been using it since 7.0, but I only use it on the workstation/desktop/laptop.

Any general comments/thoughts on this distro anyone?
