Hi,

A big hello to everyone...!

I'm new to the NZ Linux scene, as I have been over in the UK for 2 years. I 
work at Massey in Palmerston North and I'm quite surprised to find that there 
is almost no Linux awareness here. They use Microsoft (Virus) Exchange 2000 
for their email, for a start (though www.netcraft.com reports Solaris for 
various other things including dns and www).

I've just got Mandrake going nicely on a newly cobbled together home Athlon 
system, with a Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9000 card (because I have heard that ATI 
are being nice about open sourcing their drivers). Does anyone have any tips 
or ideas about getting X to do 3D on an ATI card?

I know this is a Wellington LUG, but as yet there seems to be no Manawatu LUG!
