On a fresh install of Mandrake 9.0 I am unable to write to floppy disks
(in this case vfat ones).
my /etc/fstab looks like this:
/dev/hdb1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
none /mnt/cdrom supermount
dev=/dev/hdc,fs=auto,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /mnt/cdrom2 supermount
dev=/dev/scd0,fs=auto,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto
user,iocharset=iso8859-1,sync,codepage=850,noauto,umask=0 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c vfat iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
/dev/hda2 /mnt/win_d vfat iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
/dev/hda3 /mnt/win_e vfat iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb5 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/fd0 has these properties:
lr-xr-xr-x /dev/fd0 -> floppy/0
floppy/0 looks like this:
0 brw-rw--w- /dev/floppy/0
I'm tempted to chmod u+w on this but seeing as I can't write to the
floppy even when I'm root I don't see how this can make any difference.
I know that the FDD works fine as I can write to it without any problems
from Windows.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a solution, I've already tried
MandrakeExpert oand searched Google.
TIA
